Manitoba Class 5 Practice Test — 500+ Questions

A 20-question warm-up drawn from the full 500-question Manitoba bank. Short, untimed, and refreshed on every attempt — a daily touch-up before you sit the real 30-question MPI knowledge test. Based on the 2026 Manitoba Driver's Handbook, no sign-up required.

Why short drills work

Spaced retrieval beats cramming. Four or five short practice tests across a week retain better than one marathon the night before. The 20-question practice test is designed for that — short enough to run on the bus to the MPI service centre, in the kitchen, between classes, without needing a focused half-hour. Each attempt randomises the pull, so the second practice test is actually new material.

What's in it

Twenty questions pulled at random from the full 500-question Manitoba Class 5 bank — the same pool the 30-question mock draws from. On any given attempt you might get seven signs, ten rules, and three GDL questions, or any other split. The point is to keep every topic fresh, not to balance by category.

Use the practice test as a warm-up before the 30-question MB mock exam, or as a spaced-practice tool in the week before the real MPI test. Don't use it as the pass/fail check — 20 questions is still shorter than the real 30-question exam.

Using the practice test as part of a Manitoba study plan

The most reliable way to use the 20-question practice test is as a daily diagnostic. Run it before each study session; the topic you lose points on becomes the chapter of the Manitoba Driver's Handbook you re-read that evening. When your practice-test scores sit consistently at 18 or above, graduate to the full 30-question MB mock exam and aim for 27+ out of 30 before you book your MPI knowledge test.

Sample questions

Three sample questions from the Manitoba Class 5 practice test. Click a question to reveal the correct answer and the handbook reference.

Q1. A Class 5L learner in Manitoba may NOT drive:
  • A. With family members
  • B. With a sibling in the back
  • C. Without a qualified supervising driver in the front seat ← correct
  • D. On rural gravel roads

Why: A Class 5L learner must always have a qualified supervising driver (full Class 5 non-GDL, 18+, sober) in the front passenger seat. See the Manitoba Driver's Handbook — GDL stage 1 (Learner).

Q2. An eight-sided red sign with white letters means you must:
  • A. Slow down and keep moving if the way looks clear
  • B. Yield only to oncoming traffic
  • C. Come to a complete stop ← correct
  • D. Wait for a flashing green light

Why: The octagonal stop sign requires a full stop at the stop line, crosswalk, or before entering the intersection. See the handbook — signs, signals and pavement markings.

Q3. On a Provincial Trunk Highway (PTH) in rural Manitoba, the default speed limit where no sign is posted is:
  • A. 80 km/h
  • B. 90 km/h ← correct
  • C. 100 km/h
  • D. 110 km/h

Why: The default speed limit on a rural PTH is 90 km/h unless otherwise posted. Divided highways where posted may allow 100 km/h. See the handbook — Speed limits.

Common questions

How long does the practice test take?

Five to ten minutes for most learners. Fast enough to fit in a break, slow enough that every question gets a thought.

What's in it?

Twenty random questions from the full 500-question Manitoba Class 5 bank — a mix of signs, rules, and GDL restrictions. Every attempt is a different twenty.

Does the practice test match the real exam?

Twenty questions is a warm-up. The real MPI Class 5 test is 30 questions with a 30-minute time limit. Use the 30-question mock as the pass/fail check.
